About Long Island

It is indeed a long island from Manhattan to Montauk. While only 16 miles wide at it's widest point, Long Island is 150 miles long from the Brooklyn Bridge to Montauk Point. While Brooklyn was first settled by the Dutch for farm and grazing land for New Amsterdam, Southampton became the first English colony in New York State in 1640. (although Southold may have something to say about that) This website will be your guide to the eastern portion of Long Island's business and recreation.
