It is indeed a long island from Manhattan to Montauk. While only 16 miles wide at it's widest point, Long Island is 150 miles long from the Brooklyn Bridge to Montauk Point.
While Brooklyn was first settled by the Dutch for farm and grazing land for New Amsterdam, Southampton became the first English colony in New York State in 1640.
This is a new website, started end of May, 2004. As the site grows you will find snippets of historical facts and photo's along side where to find things around the island. We will post shopping, recreational and business information.
We've started with the East End of Suffolk County and will work west. Links and search engines will provide a guide to living and working on Long Island.
